September 2020 Newsletter

Tuesday 1st September.   With only two weeks left of the season, I have to comment on the wonderful condition of the green and we thank Steve the groundsman for looking after it.
New leader in the target competition, no it's not me, Chris Sheridan landed a bulls eye scoring 10 points, well done Chris.
Wednesday 2nd September.   Our session went ahead in between the showers. Roland did his target competition, disappointingly he didn't score. We will now start the second round on Friday.
Friday 4th September.   Two sessions went well today. Len now leads the target challenge with 11 points.
Saturday 5th September.   Good session this morning. Phil Watts had a great game today and he's had a good season as well. Next Saturday will be the last day of the season. Preparations are well underway for the winter season.
We had a letter from Keith Bond this morning which is a relief after not hearing from him for some time.
Tuesday 8th September.   No one has beaten Len's score of 11 in the target competition up to now. The weather allowed us to play our two sessions today. Marion was back today after a short break and she was feeling a lot better.
Wednesday 9th September.   Lovely sunny evening. We have a new leader in the target competition, Chris Sheridan scored a 5, nearly a 10 which takes her overall total to 15. No booking tomorrow as our season finishes on Saturday.
Friday 11th September.   Brian and Sheila East made a surprise visit  to this mornings session, we haven't seen them all season while Brian is having treatment on a regular basis. They are hoping to be back for the winter season which will be great.
Tomorrow will be our last session of the summer season, so some of our members had a lunch in the Dunraven Hotel to celebrate an unusual but enjoyable summer on the green,
Three of our members, Alun Clemas, Chris Sheridan and myself all have a birthday this month and our members surprized us with a birthday cake and a lovely cheesecake which we all enjoyed. They also presented Chris and myself with gifts for helping them enjoy the seasons bowling. Thank you all for your kindness.
Saturday 12th September.   Last session of our summer season. Very enjoyable session and a lovely morning. Tournament secretary Phil watts presented the Memorial Cup for winning the target competition to Chris Sheridan.
I had a surprise phone call from Keith Bond today, he is in good spirit and talked a lot, he asked how everybody was, mentioned a few memories, particularly the sad loss of Ann Jones.
Thursday 24th September.   Hope that everyone is safe. Still haven't got a starting date for the winter season, although we have been preparing so that we can start as soon as it is safe to do so.
There has been an outbreak of Covid-19 in Ty Ross where David Evans is a resident. They did phone me to say that David has been routinely tested and at the moment he is well.
Sunday 27th September.   Many Happy Returns of the Day to Alun Clemas.
Had a meeting with our chairman Sam Morgan this-afternoon to discuss club affairs. Sam audited and approved  the finances and we gave him an update on our readiness to play the indoor season, we were able to give him the good news that our recent funding application has been approved. I have done a risk assessment and we went through the planned layout of the club with social distancing and safe-play, along with everything else within the guidelines paramount.
Finally, Chris and I would like to express our appreciation for all the good wishes we received for our birthdays this week.
