January 2020 Newsletter
Friday January 3rd. First session of the new year well supported. We still have members unwell, we are looking forward to everyone getting back to full health soon.
We made the draw for the Short Mat competition.
Saturday 4th January. Very enjoyable session. We made the draw for the Kurling competition.
Tuesday 7th January. Back to the two session format. We welcomed back Phil Williams from his holiday in Tenerife.
Friday 10th January. We started our short mat competition today, Brenda Davies and Margaret Shewring played their match, Brenda going through with the very last bowl of the game. in the afternoon session and Pat Havard and Marion Hughes played their match, Pat Havard going through in a very close game.
We welcomed Christine Phillips back today after a long absence due to health concerns. She had both her cataracts removed and now has good vision. Wonderful news.
Silvia had her knee operation and is recovering well and we all send her our best wishes.
Christine Stewart is still unwell and we all send her our best wishes.
Looking forward to seeing you both back soon.
Rose was delighted to inform us that both her daughters in-law are expecting babies within seven weeks of each other during the summer.
Saturday 11th January. Diane Thomas and David Morgan played their short mat match with David winning after an enjoyable game to watch.
Tuesday 14th January. We welcomed back Christine Stewart after her short illness.
Alan Clemas and Mary Jones played their short mat match, a good game with Alan Clemas coming through to two legs to one.
All our members are delighted for and proud of Wayne Warren's achievement in winning the World Darts Championship
Well done Wayne.
Friday 17th January. Mike Lias and Alan Roberts played their short mat match today, in a close match Alan won by two legs to one. Alun Clemas and Lynne Fersland also played their short mat match today and in another close match, Alun won by two legs to one.
We welcomed Lauren back today.
Saturday 18th January. Phil Watts won his short mat match against Rhys and came through by two legs to one. Lauren won her short mat match against Susan and came through by two legs to one and Sam won his short mat match against Chris Sheridan also by two legs to one. altogether an entertaining start to our session today.
Tuesday 21st January. We welcomed Diane Jones back after a short break. Mary White played Diane Jones in the short mat tournament with Mary winning in a very close match by two legs to one. Diane Gilbert played Rose Beswick with Diane winning in a very good match by two legs to one. A well attended first and second sessions today.
Friday 24th January. Len Pierce and Christine Morgan played their short mat match, Len winning by two legs to nil.
Another full clubhouse and a lot of fun being enjoyed.
Saturday 25th January. Len Pierce and Lauren Howells played their second round short mat match with Len winning by two ends to nil. The shock result so far this season, was, Sam and Brenda played their second round match with Brenda winning by two ends to one after very high standard bowling. Well done to you all for very entertaining matches.
Tuesday 28th January. We kicked of the Kurling competition today with our first two games. Pat and Chris Sheridan played the first game with Chris going through by two legs to one and Susan going through against Christine Morgan, also by two legs to one. Both games were taken with the last shot.
Sam paid us an unexpected weekday visit today on his 25th birthday. Happy Birthday Sam.
Silvia Hughes is recovering from her recent knee operation and doing very well, although it will be a while before she is able to tackle a game of bowls. Good luck with your recovery Silvia, hope to see you out and about in the not too distant future.

We then had a wonderful occasion, David Havard playing Sheila East in the short mat competition with David winning. In the Kurling competition, Clive played Alan Roberts, both played well with Clive winning through with the last stone. Well played everyone.
