June 2019 Newsletter
Monday 3rd June. We played Ystrad Fechan in the Monday League. In a very close game played in good spirit, Ystrad Fechan won the two rinks.
The junior session was well attended. We welcomed Phoebe, Lexi, Lauren and Gareth for their first session.
Monday 10th June. We played Penrhys in the Monday league, losing the match on overall score. Alun Howells rink were impressive in winning their rink.
Tuesday 11th June. Weather not good, we had to cancel the school session.
Friday 14th June. We welcomed Wayne and Lorraine to our club today, they played very well in their taster session and enjoyed the social session that followed.
Saturday 15th June. Today we celebrated Paul's birthday with a lovely Victoria Sandwich and a lovely chocolate sponge which his mum had made for us to enjoy. Happy Birthday Paul.
Sunday 16th June. We have been catching up with Gemma via the phone today. Gemma first joined us on 17 July 2015 with her then partner Gareth. The following June she gave birth to her lovely son Riley. Unfortunately they moved away during the winter of 2016 but Gemma has always kept in touch. Riley is now a big boy of 3 years old.
Monday 17th June. We played Gilfach Goch in the Monday League, loosing the match 2 rinks to nil.
David Evans is back in hospital, we all wish him well.
Tuesday 18th June. Morning session followed by celebrating Brenda's birthday. Penyrenglyn school had their session in the afternoon.
Friday 21st June. It's nice to see Maureen back from her holiday. Lovely summer morning, good turnout for then session, the green is now recovering well. Nice evening session, all in all, a good day.
Saturday 22nd June. Another lovely day for our members to be bowling. We are proud of Lauren with her achievement for the Independent Living Course.
Monday 24th June. Our Monday League team played Ystradfodwg today winning the two rinks and therefore the match. Well played boys.
Roland today informed us that one of his brothers has suddenly passed away. I have expressed condolences on behalf of everyone at the club.
Wednesday 26th June. We had an extra session today to welcome Meriel Gough of the Community Advice Team. There was a good turnout of members to here an address from Meriel about local affairs.
It is Len Pierce's birthday today, he is 89 years young today and the oldest member of our club. You have all our best wishes Len
Friday 28th June. We welcomed Brian and Sheila to our morning session today. Very good turnout this morning and also for the evening session, thanks to a beautiful warm summer day.
