December 2022 Newsletter

Friday 2nd December.   The roof has been finished and the contractor says the scaffolding will now come down and that they are expecting to complete the walls by Christmas.
Tuesday 6th December.   Cladding of the club is progressing well. In the Wedge Competition, Clive scored a maximum 150, Well done Clive. Another lovely session. We are now looking forward to our Christmas dinner.
Friday 9th December.   The very cold weather is continuing. we welcomed Lynne Fursland back today after a few weeks break. The cladding on the outside of the club is progressing well. An enjoyable session today.
Saturday 10th December.   Nice session this-morning. Today we think about Pat Havard, it is 2 years since her husband David passed away and we think about our loss of a lovely member. David was well respected by us all and we still miss him.
Tuesday 13th December.   The morning session was very much like a party, lovely bowling, everyone supporting each other, it doesn't get much better than this.
Those of us who were there will never forget last years Christmas Dinner, it really was fantastic. All I can say is, this year, it was at least as good or even better. The Dunraven Hotel (Nic, Ruth and staff) presented us with a wonderfully decorated room and the tables looking beautiful and the food was well enjoyed by everyone. Sam (our chairman) welcomed everyone and made a speech in which he said what a wonderful club we have, great facilities and a wonderful membership. He praised the part Clive and Chris play in organizing everything that is needed to make the club run like clockwork. Clive (secretary/treasurer) thanked Sam for his kind words. Clive mentioned  some of the highlights of the year, which included coming through the pandemic safely. The year has been a very busy one, which has included extensive refurbishment of the clubhouse, inside and out and the improvement of the green and all the parties we have enjoyed, our donation to Ty Ross and our commissioning of 3 items of park equipment.
Clive thanked Sam and Chris for joining him in providing our members a facility to enjoy themselves, he also thanked all our members for the way they pull together and make every session so enjoyable.
The entertainment that followed was provided by Mike and Rose which had everybody in stitches, Clive and Chris sang!!! a song with a strong bowls content, with backing by the Treherbert Bowls Club Choir!!! and we ended up with the choir singing the 12 Days of Christmas. It doesn't get better than this. All in all, a night to remember.
Sadly, Alun Clemas had a fall and missed the dinner, everyone sends Alun our Good Wishes for a speedy recovery.
Saturday 18th December.   Draw results.
