May 2022 Newsletter
Monday 2nd May. Good turnout for a Bank Holiday. Sam turned up with his family. We all enjoyed a full hour and a half session.
Tuesday 3rd May. We were pleased to hear that Elaine has recovered from Covid and will be back with us in the very near future. Mike Lias will be celebrating his 70th birthday on Thursday and as we will not be seeing him again before then, we sang Happy Birthday today.
Wednesday 4th May. Another lovely evening of bowling.
Thursday 5th May. Mike turned up on his birthday which was nice. Once again. an enjoyable evening of bowling, a nice place to be.
Friday 6th May. Great bowling this morning. We welcomed Mal Squires to the club today. Our School Bowls Program began today with a visit from Penpych Primary School.
Monday 9th May. No Bowling session today, new floor is being laid in the side room and hall.
Tuesday 10th May. The new flooring looks fabulous. Lovely session although there was a few showers. The school session with Penyrenglyn Primary went really well. Phil Williams, our wheelchair member is playing fantastic. Well Done Phil. 2 More enquires for membership today, there is a lot of interest for membership this season.
Friday 13th May. Everyone is pleased with the new floors in the hall and the side room. Following a good morning session, we had a session with Penpych School which showed how they are improving with their bowling.
Tuesday 17th May. Today we welcomed Gary Culverhouse back to the club. Phil Williams (wheelchair player) played his first competitive game following a few weeks of practice. Well done Phil.
Wednesday 18th May. Lovely evening of bowling in slightly damp conditions. The security cameras were installed today, all the lights were cleaned and some small renovation work. More improvements will follow in the next few months.
Thursday 19th May. The sun has returned. Good turn-out for a Thursday evening. The green is going to be fertilized tomorrow. Gwen will be away next week, so will Sam. We all hope you have a nice time.
Saturday 21st May. Every day is such a pleasure. We welcomed Darren back today after his few weeks off. Gwen is going to Spain for a week, so we wished her well. Chris and I had our jabs yesterday and so did Brenda. The green was fertilized yesterday and we are hoping for the best over the next few weeks.
Saturday 28th May. Warm sunny day for this session. We welcomed back Phil Watts after a few weeks off and also we welcomed Lynne back who has not been well for a while.
Tuesday 31st May. It's our Jubilee Party Day and what a wonderful day it turned out to be. Lovely weather and a great bowling session. Maureen Duckett played her first session, playing along with Phil Williams and they both played really well and enjoyed it. We then went up the Dunraven Hotel for our party. We all enjoyed fantastic food and sang our hearts out for the National Anthem and a medley of songs prepared by Chris Sheridan. This club is really a joy to belong to. A big Thank You to all our members for the way they pull together and make every session so enjoyable.
