Treherbert Bowls Club Review of 2019
INTRODUCTION
We started 2019 with the second half of our winter season in progress. Because of the popularity of the short mat bowling, it was decided to seek funding opportunities to obtain a second short mat with accessories. Also, with our membership increasing it was necessary to bring in sessions for the 2019/2020 winter season. Due to increasing membership, our tearoom, can at peak times, be too small and it was therefore planned to acquire narrow tables to meet our needs on these occasions. This change will reduce the usage of our Kurling equipment because of lack of space, but it will remain available to use whenever needed.
THE SPORT
The Annual Short Mat Tournament was won by Paul Miller and the Kurling was won by Carole Jones. Well done both of you.
We will not have started our tournaments as we write this review but the draw will be made soon after the new year celebrations, we will have Short Mat and Kurling competitions before the season ends.
During the summer, we played in the RBBA Monday league again this season with mixed results. The team was well supported in numbers and completed our fixtures without cancelations
Phil Watts organized the Memorial Cup Target Competition which is always popular with our members, this season it was won by Susan Anderson.
Thank you, Phil and well done, Sue
The school’s program between Penpych and Penyrenglyn Primary Schools went ahead again this year. The Annual Challenge match was won by Penpych. The trophies were presented by Jodie Price and Rachel Davies (Sport Development Officers).
Thank you to all those involved in helping at this event.
MOMENTS WE REMEMBER

Our eldest member Len Pearce had his 89th birthday.

Imogen Sinclair from the Centre for Social Justice visited us to assist with her research for a report which she sent us a copy of when it was published.
Scott Emanuel visited to see our facilities to help with his Tourism in Treherbert project which was published on facebook.
Chris and I receiving the December RCT Sport Volunteer of the Month Award.
PEOPLE WHO MAKE IT HAPPEN
All these activities need organizing and we could not have achieved such a successful and enjoyable year without the support and help of many people.
Thank you to the First Aid team
Our coaching team. Particularly those who helped with the school’s program and Challenge Match.
Meriel Gough for allowing us to assist her community work which she does so well.
Chris Sheridan for doing all she does to help the club, particularly the work with the Junior Club and the website.
We also thank all those who helped us with the funding applications.
A special mention to all our members who help in so many ways, cleaning, washing dishes, polishing bowls running draws organizing birthday celebrations, etc, etc, thank you all especially for the fun and laughter that makes such a difference.
THANK YOU ALL ONCE AGAIN FOR YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT IN MAKING TREHERBERT BOWLS CLUB A PLEASURE TO BE INVOLVED WITH.
FINALLY.
I would like to thank everyone who came to Treherbert Bowls Club throughout the year, I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did and we’ll see you in 2020
