Tuesday 17th March. Regrettably, because of the Coronavirus update given yesterday, the decision has been taken that this will be our last week of the winter season.
Today the short mat final took place between Brenda Davies and David Morgan with David becoming this season's champion. Well done David. David also played his match with Susan Anderson in the kurling competition. In a very good tactical match, Susan won with the very last stone. Well done Sue.
Some of our members will not be with us this last week of the season because of health issues which make them vulnerable at this point in time. Everyone at the club sends them all good wishes and we will all get together again when the situation improves.
Friday 20th March. Continuing the wind down, we had another great session today, it included a quiz and a good buffet which was enjoyed by everyone.
Saturday 21st March. Today was our last session, and what a session it was !!!!
We started with the second semi final of the Kurling between Len Pearce and Chris Sheridan, with Chris coming out on top, followed by the final, Chris playing Susan Anderson and what a great tactical match with Chris becoming our champion. Then followed a great session of bowling, we retired to our coffee room for refreshments in a party atmosphere, besides the usual chatter, we enjoyed a quiz and a sing-song to end a absolutely fantastic session today. We all left the club with a positive attitude.
A LETTER FROM OUR CHAIRMAN
I am sad to see Treherbert Bowls Club’s Winter Season be cut short. I’m sure everyone is.
Enjoyment has been painted on everybody’s face throughout the Winter Season. This is unsurprising to me.
I was hoping to see another hotshot achieved by the end of the Winter Season.
Congratulations to Maureen Price and David Morgan on achieving the first ever hotshot in the winter season.
Unfortunately, the decision to cut the season short was out of our hands. The health and welfare of each of our members is our sole interest. I would like to say a massive thank you to Clive and Chris Sheridan for the hours of hard work they put in/give-up to make sure we all have a place to go, a place to socialise, a place to enjoy ourselves and a place we all feel like family.
Our current situation for the outdoor Summer Season is still unclear. All I can say at this moment is….
Please all stay safe and away from this horrible virus as best you can! We shall update you on the outdoor season when we know the situation.
I’ll see you soon,
Sam Morgan
Chairman
HELLO EVERYONE.
It is now a week since we regrettably had to close the winter season early.
Thankfully, we have not heard of any of our members showing symptoms of the Coronavirus.
Chris and I have prepared the club for the summer season so it is ready for use ASAP
The green itself is looking fantastic (our thanks to the groundsmen).
Apart from the early finish, from my point of view, the winter season was a great success, so many parties for any reason, Christmas dinner, Sam becoming a father and Phil Williams (our first wheelchair member) playing Kurling, just to name a few.
Most pleasing was the quality of bowling, everyone playing so well and the tactical side has improved greatly. This will help with our outdoor game.
The two-session setup worked well.
I would like to thank Sam for his kind words and all our members for their continued support.
That’s all for now.
“We’ll meet again, don’t know where, don’t know when,
but I know we’ll meet again some sunny day”
We wish you all well over the coming weeks.
Clive and Chris
