April 2018 Newsletter
Friday April 6th. Full clubhouse. we welcomed Diane back again and today she played her first short mat game and enjoyed. Sad news, Sylvia's sister passed away this week. Quiz enjoyed by everyone, lots of laughter.
Saturday April 7th. Today will be our last Saturday session of our winter season. Once again a big turnout on a wet morning.
Tuesday April 10th. Paul and Sheila were back after Paul's poor spell of health and we were glad to see Pat back as well.
Thursday 12th April. Lunch at the Treorchy Hotel. Lovely meals enjoyed by all, I thanked Chris Stewart for organizing the meals. We had a raffle and a quiz, a lot of chat and laughter. Our members surprised myself and Chris when they presented us with a bouquet and a gift for our golden wedding anniversary. Thank you.
Friday 13th April. Our last session of the winter season. When play finished we enjoyed an excellent buffet provided by our members.
OUTDOOR SEASON 2018
Saturday 21st April. Our first session of the new season today, a nice sunny morning and a huge turn-out, eager to enjoy a game of bowls. We welcomed some new players, Gareth, Ashley, Helenydd and Megan.
Monday 23rd April. We welcomed Dean Hamilton back for the first time since last summer. During his absence he visited Zimbabwe which he particularly enjoyed. We played our first Monday League match which was against Beddau. The match was won by Beddau winning both rinks. The match was played in a great sporting spirit.(Thank you Beddau).
We had our first junior session of the season in the evening.
Tuesday 24th April. Surprisingly good adult turnout on a wet day. Unable to play bowls but had a lot of fun in clubhouse playing "Bounce Off". School and junior sessions reluctantly called off due to very heavy rain.
Thursday 26th April. Good session tonight for adults and junior members. Brad leaves us tonight for two weeks in Spain. We understand David Morgan had a fall last night and we all wish him well.
Friday 27th April. Managed to get two sessions in today despite the poor weather.
Monday 30th April. Very busy club night with adults and juniors. In the Monday league, we were away to The Harlequins where we lost both rinks.
