August 2016 Newsletter
Thursday 4th August. The weather allowed us to welcome Havod Tenancy Group for their 2nd session with us and we look forward to meeting them regularly until the end of the season.
Saturday 6th August. Nice day for bowling, we could call it "grandchildren's day", Jean Morgan has a new grandson born in New Zealand named Ryker and Susan and Chris brought their granddaughters, Marley and Olivia along. A new bowler Wayne Parry had his first session and enjoyed it very much.
Tuesday 9th August. Morning Adult Session went well, Christine Stewart had her best morning for a while. Well done Chris. In the afternoon, we were proud to host the Communities First Fun Day with a cross section of bowlers from 2 years of age to 60 plus, they all enjoyed their bowling experience, in particular, the children enjoyed the target competition while the younger ones enjoyed the Quoits. Refreshments were provided afterwards while everyone discussed the afternoons entertainment.
Wednesday 10th August. Open Wednesday Nght. Good competitions tonight, nice to be playing again after the bad weather. Winners this week was Jeyden on the Target Bowls and Morgan with the Quoits
Wednesday 17th August. Keith and Clay won against Mike and Gwyn in the pairs tournament.
Thursday 18th August. With the nice weather, we have been very busy this week including tonight.
Friday 26th August. Lovely day today, sunny and a good turnout. Rian is becoming a regular bowler, which is great.
With some members not available, we still had 19 bowlers today, the club is going from strength to strength.
We took the opportunity today to take a photograph because of the imminent departure of Dymphna who we will miss greatly. We were pleased to hear of Cians' good GCSE results and told him how proud we are of him. We also gave Sam our best wishes of his starting his teaching career next week, we will miss him next season.
Tuesday 30th August. A very busy days bowling, good turnout for the morning session and bursting at the seams in the evening session. Two pairs tournament rounds played tonight, Anthony and Ann winning a close game against Keith and Clay and Gary and Clive edging out Cian and Brenda by one shot. Chris was very busy with the juniors this evening with the new games, this part of the club is proving to be very popular.
