JULY 2017 NEWSLETTER
We are now entering the second half of the season and it looks like it will be a very busy few months for us. We will be partnering Communities First for a further 10 weeks with our Tuesday Adult Sessions, we are hosting the RBBA tournament finals in August and there will be some medal competitions for the juniors.
While this is all going ahead, we are looking forward to introducing activities in the clubhouse during the winter months for the first time. We must also think about our Centenary year 2018.
SATURDAY 1st JULY. Great start to the month NO GNATS sunny morning. Once again a good turnout by our members all in a good mood after the Lions win.
Four of our members attended an Assistant Coaching Course this morning, Keith Bond, Christine Stewart, Brenda Davies and Rose Beswich and completed it successfully, WELL DONE.
TUESDAY 4th JULY. Penyrenglyn school attended with 36 pupils today, practicing in preparation for the school match with Penpych later this month.
We sang "Happy Birthday" for Oscar who is 12 years old today.
Cian leaves us today for his 6 week stint in Canada with the Cadets. We wish him well.
WEDNESDAY 5th JULY. Penpych had their school session with us today 27 pupils.
Junior club Target tournament in the evening with Pheobe winning the medal.
FRIDAY 29th JULY. Today is all about Rhys. He won his quarter final of the RBBA Singles Tournament in style tonight winning his match, 21 to 8. WELL DONE RHYS.
MONDAY 10th JULY. Monday League game called off, Harlequins could not get a team together.
WEDNESDAY 12th JULY. Penpych had their bowls session today, 20 pupils attended.
Josh was this week's Junior Target winner.
FRIDAY 14th JULY. Rhys and Luke played a very tight match in their RBBA semi-final with Luke finishing in front with a 21-18 win.
SATURDAY 15th JULY. Rained off, Bowls + (plus), played Dominoes.
TUESDAY 18th JULY. Great day of bowling, we welcomed Paul who enjoyed his session with us, 5 rinks used this morning. Junior club members enjoyed Bowls + (plus) where they were introduced to the game of Dominoes and gave it 10 out of 10.
We are thinking about Cian and how he is getting on in Canada.
THURSDAY 20th JULY. One of the highlights of the year today, the schools match. Penpych came out on top in a match of quality bowling by the pupils. Ivor John Morris, Renowned Bowls Coach and Daniel Williams (Lead Worker, Upper Rhondda Commuitie 1st) presented the cups. A big thank you to the coaching team and Laura and Lauren for their help in making the day a success.
SATURDAY 22nd JULY. Unfortunately, it was a wet day today so we could not do any bowling, however, as 14 people turned up, Bowls + (plus) came in to play and we did "Ball Darts" which pleased everyone.
MONDAY 24th JULY. Our league team visited Beddau, lovely day, lovely game, lost to a better team. Back at the "Ranch", Chris was very busy, lots of members and visitors enjoying a game of bowls and the younger members, moving on to Bowls + (Plus) to end their session.
TUESDAY 25th JULY. 3 Full rinks in use this-morning, numbers are continuing to grow. Very enjoyable evening session, on and off the green.
WEDNESDAY 26th JULY. Medals Competition won by Taylor.
