April 2020 Newsletters

Saturday 4th April.   Two weeks since closing the club and no reports of any present members having Coronavirus, thank goodness, however, we have news of Ann Jones who has been tested positive. We all hope that she will  be well again soon. I talked to Brian East earlier in the week and he was pleased to say, he was going in to hospital on Friday (yesterday) for an operation. Best wishes Brian. Some of our members will have heard that Mary Jones (unrelated), had a fall in her garden (down the steps) and broke her wrist, which is in plaster, luckily, it's not her bowling hand. Best wishes Mary.
Saturday 11th April.
With sadness, I have to report that Ann Jones passed away yesterday, she was only 69 years of age. Ann had been a popular member of our club. She enjoyed her bowling and was good company.
Since Ann was taken into hospital, Chris and I kept in touch with her husband Gareth and we will, of course, pass on condolences on behalf of all the club members. We will all miss Ann.    REST IN PEACE.
As you will all know, today was intended to be our last day of the winter season with the summer season starting next Saturday but that can't happen now because of the virus, however, everything is in place and we will start ASAP.
Some good news.   Brian East phoned me this week to say, he has had his operation and is feeling much the better for it.
UPDATE.  I have spoken to Gareth today to express condolences on behalf of all our club members, he asked me to thank you all for your kind thoughts.
Saturday 18th April.   Today we should have been starting our summer season outside and what is the weather like?, it's going to rain (STAY AT HOME). It looks like it's going to be at least a month before there's any prospect of us being open, (we live in hope).
We have not heard of any further members having the Coronavirus. However, Sam's partner Jodie's  brother Josh, who has played with us occasionally, just recently indoors on a Saturday morning, has been taken into hospital and tested positive. We are waiting to hear further news.  We send the family our best wishes.
UPDATE. Sam has informed us that Josh is being treated in intensive care. All our thoughts are with Josh, Sam, Jodie and the family.
Monday 20th April.   Please find below the details of Ann's funeral.

Tuesday 21st April.   UPDATE.   Jodie's brother Josh has improved today. He has been moved into a room of his own. He is no longer on the ventilator and is needing very little oxygen. His heart is only working around the 50% mark. He is being kept in hospital for approximately another two weeks. Everyone is wishing his improvement will continue and he will be home with the family for his 21st birthday.
Wednesday 22nd April.   UPDATE   Just heard that Josh has been put up into the general ward and doing great.
Saturday 25th April.  I talked over the phone to Brian East this week, He is doing well and  able to do so much more since his recent heart operation, his wife Sheila is also well. I also spoke to Mary Jones who is recovering from her fall down the steps of her garden, her wrist is still very painful but apart from getting very frustrated with a slower progress than she would like, is doing fine. Chris had a chat with Dymnpha, she is very well and loving having the time to catch-up with the jobs that she's been putting aside for ages.  Josh is still doing great, the hospital is hoping that he will be well enough to be discharged sometime during the coming week. Chris spoke to Roland today who is well and wants  his good wishes passed on to all our members.
Monday 27th April.  Ann's funeral today. A very dignified occasion. The family posted the following message on Facebook.
