July 2023 Newsletter
Week ending Saturday 1st July.
Len Pearce celebrated his birthday this week.
Lauren's gone away on a cruise.
Sue and Gwen are home from holidays.
Due to the weather, we lost Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday sessions, all other sessions went ahead as normal.
Prior to our Thursday evening session, we attended an event to officially open the 3 items of equipment we donated to Treherbert park (a bouncy roundabout, trampoline and a zip-wire).This event was organized and attended by local councillors Scott Emanuel and Will Jones. We would like to express our appreciation to Scott and Will and the community on behalf of all our members for a memorable evening.
Week ending Saturday 8th July.
The weather meant cancelling some of our sessions this week. Luckily, Friday, the day of the schools match was the best day of the week, sunny and warm. The schools match itself, was an outstanding success. The target lay-out was very popular with the pupils, they scored heavily which gave them a lot of enjoyment. Penpych won the match in a close contest. In the clubhouse, the pupils enjoyed the refreshments, the presentation of the cups and the friendliness of the two teams was a pleasure to see on a great occasion. The pupils thanked the coaches with a round of applause. We thanked Councillor Will Jones for attending to present the cups. This will be a day the pupils will never forget and so will everyone who was there.
Mike made a surprise announcement, he and Rose are getting married in September. Everyone at the club is delighted with this news and wish them well. Great news, great story.
There was another special day on Saturday, our Chairman Sam married Jodie. Clive and Chris represented all our club members at the wedding ceremony and Sue, Chris Stewart, Brenda and Rhys represented the members in the evening.
Everyone at the club sends Sam and Jodie The very best wishes for their married life.
Week ending Saturday July 15th. This week we were badly affected by the bad weather. We lost all our morning sessions except for the Autism Centre Session (indoors). All the evening sessions were unaffected. The Thursday evening session was very busy, we only put one rink ready, then we needed to add another one, then we needed to add a third one, this club never ceases to amaze. We welcomed Lynne back after a few weeks and she brought two visitors along. Ray and Carole enjoyed the session with us very much. Lauren was back from her cruise holiday. All in all a wonderful session that lit up the week.
Pat Havard has been unwell lately, she's going away with her daughter for a short break and we hope to see her back soon.
Week ending Saturday 22nd July. All sessions playable this week except today. On Monday we welcomed Sam and Jodie back from their honeymoon. The advantage of the recent wet weather is that our bowling green has recovered and is playing well.
Just to remind everyone, that next weeks sessions end on Thursday 27th and the club will be closed until it re-opens on Saturday 12th August.
Week ending Saturday 29th July. Only 3 sessions playable this week, all well attended.
