July 2021 Newsletter
18th July. Remembering Kay Leyshon R,I.P.
Thursday 1st July. Meriel Gough joined us for the Autism session this morning. We were pleased to see her again and it was nice to catch up.
Friday 2nd July. Good session today. Presentations of goody bags were made to the three of the four winners in the Wedge Competition. Well done everyone. The overall winner Susan Anderson was presented with a very nice bottle of wine. Well done Sue.
Saturday 3rd July. Susan Anderson took the lead in the Ton-Up Wedge Competition.
Tuesday 6th July. We welcomed back Mary Jones coming back out from isolation, Alun Clemas who has been out of sorts and Len Pearce who has had a minor operation. We now have joint leaders in the Ton Up Wedge Competition. Len hitting a ton to join Sue on one each.
Friday 9th July. Most enjoyable session this morning. Sue is again in the lead in the Ton-up Wedge Competition, she scored a second ton today. For the first I can remember, one team (today the blues) white-washed the reds, they even won a double or quits leg. For all that, it was a really enjoyable game of bowls.
Monday 12th July. Turned up for tonight's session to find the veranda at the front of our clubhouse has been demolished (photos in Gallery). Hope to find out more information tomorrow.
Wednesday 14th July. Carole Jones hit 100 in the Ton-Up Competition. Well done Carole.
Thursday 15th July, Attended Lynne Fursland's house warming party today with Chris, Lynne has a lovely new home close to her nearest and dearest family and we all wish her well for the future.
Friday 16th July. This week we had the sad news that Len has lost a daughter. We all send our condolences.
Jean Morgan has joined the 100 scorers in the Ton-Up Competition. Well done Jean.
Saturday 17th July. Susan Anderson hit a ton in todays session to her total so far to 3. Well done Sue.
Tuesday 20th July. Very warm, sunny day today, an amber warning was issued by the met office for the first time ever. Rose scored a ton in the Wedge Competition which means 5 players have now scored a ton. Brilliant.
Friday 23rd July. In the Ton-Up Competition, Chris Sheridan hit a ton and Sue also hit one taking her tally to an impressive 4. I think I should say that there has been a huge amount of near misses so well done everyone.
Tuesday 27th July. We welcomed Pat back from her break in Blackpool. Clive hit his first ton and Sue hit her 5th in the Ton - Up Competition. We belated presented Pat with her prize for winning the weekly highest score in the Wedge Competition during June. Well done Pat.
Thursday 29th July. The last session before Chris and I take a break. Susan Anderson hit a ton her 6th so far. Well done Sue. She's getting so good at this, I think I'll have to blindfold her. A really good session, great bowling, good tactical thinking, a treat to see. Well done everyone.
