April 2016 Newsletter
We are looking forward to the season, the club-house has had its Spring clean, the outside notice board has been refurbished and we have acquired some new sets of bowls for this year.
Saturday April 16th. We opened the new season today, Phil and Jean Green were the first bowlers to play in our new adults taster sessions which will be a regular Saturday morning feature from 11.30 to 12.30.
Monday April 18th. I must admit that when we went to the green for our first session of the season, we didn't expect many there but the children were waiting for us in numbers (34 in fact). The weather was nice, a little bit nippy, the green in beautiful condition (thank you green keepers) and everyone enjoyed their game of bowls.
Tuesday April 19th. Penyrenglyn had their first session today. 27 pupils played and impressed the coaching team with their standard of play. We were fortunate to have a sunny afternoon which went on into the evening where we were very busy again using all our 6 rinks.
Saturday April 23rd Our Saturday Taster Session welcomed more new players to our club which is very encouraging and we look forward to meeting many more in the near future. On a lovely sunny morning, we all enjoyed a full hours bowling and refreshments afterwards.
Just a reminder to anyone who would like to come along and give it a try, our coaching staff will give you all the advice needed and the equipment to make it an enjoyable morning.
Tuesday April 26th. Our first Tuesday Adult Morning Session went well considering the cold wind.
Friday April 29th. We managed to have our Friday session despite the weather being difficult, as you can see from our photographs, one minute being sunny and a few minutes later the green completely white with hailstones. The evening Junior session was well attended in bright sunshine.
Saturday April 30th. we were fortunate to have a pretty good, sunny, still a little bit on the cold side morning to play.
We welcomed Jean Morgan back for the first time this season. I phoned Gwyn Davies to inquire how he was after his fall yesterday, he is fine and will be back on Tuesday. On the playing side, most players are improving although they may not think so but is still very early in the season to expect too much after just 2 sessions, Phil Green had some good form today. The last end of the session will be remembered when Cian drew 2 brilliant shots into the Head.
