October 2022 Newsletter
Saturday 1st October. The painting in the club has now been completed. We have been cleaning and preparing for the last couple of days and are on track to start the winter season on Tuesday.
Monday 3rd October. Remembering our dear friend Kay Leyshon who sadly passed away 5 years ago today.
Tuesday 4th October. Start of the winter season today with a full clubhouse. Our members were pleased with the completion of the renovation inside the clubhouse. We are now looking forward to the outside renovation. The new floor has made a significant difference to the way the short mat is running and everyone is pleased. We are optimistic that the winter season will be an enjoyable one, following on from the hugely successful summer season.
Friday 7th October. Another full clubhouse. A mixed session of old and new members. A most enjoyable session, plenty of laughter, everybody supporting each other. All players have settled in well.
Saturday 8th October. Another full clubhouse. We are now at maximum capacity but are opening a waiting list.
We welcomed Roland back, he is holding his own after his recent illness.
Friday 14th October. 2 Sessions today, one morning and one afternoon. In the morning session, there was a lot of good bowling, in particular, Pat had an outstanding session. In the afternoon session we welcomed 2 new members, Len and Sue Jones to the short mat bowling, they had previously visited in the summer season.
Saturday 15th October. Nice session, good bowling. We sang Happy Birthday Susan Anderson. Sam was waiting for news about Jodie who is in Royal Glamorgan Hospital, if she was coming home today.
Tuesday 18th October. UPDATE
We would like to thank you all for your support since we let you know we had covid. We think we have had a mild dose, sore throat, cough, runny nose, We are recovering day by day and fully expect to be able to return to normal next week.
Tuesday 25th October. The scaffolding was erected around the building today ready for the contractors to fit the new roof and clad the outside of the club.
Thursday 27th October. Today we remember David Evans who passed away 2 years today.
David was a popular member, who enjoyed the company of our members and the hospitality that our club offers.
