Review of 2015 Season
Our Season had the best possible start when we achieved Rhondda Cynon Taf Safe Sport Status
Despite the weather being disappointing this summer we didn't lose much playing time.
The Monday league team did very well finishing mid-table this year.
The Junior League team finished top of the league but then lost out in the knock-out stage finishing runner up.
We tried 2 new initiatives this season, the Junior Open Wednesday and the Adult Friday Session. Both were successful and we intend to include them next year again but hopefully for the full season.
We participated in the Communities First Summer Fun Program with 2 sessions of bowling for ages 7 to 11 years.
The School Sessions were held again this year accommodating more pupils than previously by using the full 6 rinks. The School Challenge Match went ahead with a record 48 pupils taking part. Penpych were champions.
The match was played in good spirits and the pupils enjoyed the afternoon.
The Junior Club Sessions were well attended despite the poor weather with 6 rinks being regularly used.
We held in-house tournaments for the Seniors and Juniors and some of our Juniors also entered the Rhondda Junior Tournaments.
All of the above activities need organizing and monitoring.
We had the privilege of hosting A Child Protection Course organised by Julie Price. The course was attended by approximately 20 delegates. All our coaching team were present.
I would like to thank Michelle Gibbs and Julie Price (RCT Sport) for their support.
I would like to thank all of the Coaching Team (Sam Morgan, Adrian Davies, Alun Howells, Garry Culverhouse and Chris Sheridan) for all they do to help everyone who visits our club to have a good time.
I would also like to thank all the other volunteers (our helpers of the week, those who helped in the kitchen, those who have helped with transport and in any other way).
A special mention should be made of Garry Culverhouse who set up our website which has made such a difference to our access to the public, enabling them to see what is available at our club. I would also like to mention Chris who is now working on the website every day keeping it up to date with all the latest information and publishing photographs etc.
Finally I would like to thank everyone who visited Treherbert Bowls Club this season, hope you enjoyed it as much as we did and we'll see you next season.
Thank you
