August 2022 Newsletter
Friday 12th August. We have returned from holiday and back at work. The kitchen fitters were at the club to complete the kitchen installation. Tomorrow's session will go ahead as planned.
Saturday 13th August. It's still very warm. The council gave the green some watering this morning. The green is playing well and our bowlers had a good session.
Tuesday 16th August. Large turnout today and the weather stayed fine for the session. We welcomed two new members today, Tony Jones and Helen Thomas had their first session and enjoyed it. Everyone was pleased with the new kitchen.
Friday 19th August. We welcomed Mary back from her holidays. Another large turnout for todays session and a very enjoyable one.
Saturday 20th August. Lauren played Rhys and won 2 - 0, Phil Watts played Alun Clemas and won 2 - 0 Jean Morgan then played Lauren and won 2 - 0 all games in the 2-Wood Competition.
We were pleased to hear that Rhys is now working at M&S. Good luck Rhys.
We had visitors today, Steve who has been with us before came with his wife Anna Handel Davies's daughter and Handel's son David. We are now preparing for a possible, friendly match next Saturday.
Friday 26th August. In the 2 - Wood Competition, Len played Mary and won 2 - 1, Jean played Lauren and won
2 - 0 and Sam played Jean and won 2 - 1.
Roland is in hospital and Alun Clemas had a fall in Cardiff. We all wish them both a speedy recovery.
Saturday 27th August. Today we welcomed Maryfield Bowls Club who are visiting Treherbert as guests of Blaenrhondda Bowls Club. The match was played in a friendly spirit with Maryfield winning.
Roland informed us that he has a burst gall bladder which may require surgery. Alun has informed us that he has cuts and bruises as a result of his fall and is resting at home. All our members send them both wishes to get well soon, we all miss them both.
Tuesday 30th August. A good session this morning. The menu for our End of Season Dinner is now up in the club house. I asked Roland how he is and his reply was ( Not great Clive, still tests, operation likely, might know more today).
