REVIEW OF 2024
REVIEW WINTER.
We continue to have referrals from a variety of sources. Just for example, our latest referral lives in Porth, he phoned me and asked if he could come along to our club. I asked him how he had heard of Treherbert Bowls Club. He said he went to a meeting in Pontyprydd to find out about opportunities. They told him they had a list and at the top of the list was Treherbert Bowls Club. I invited him along to a session. After his first playing session and following our after playing activities and refreshments were over, he came and told me "Clive, I loved every minute". He is now looking forward to the summer season with us. Icing on the cake, he had a grandson born this week.
Every session is a pleasure, so much fun and laughter, and everyone supporting each other, it doesn't get any better than this. Thank you all for making Treherbert Bowls Club a pleasure to be involved with and long may it continue.
REVIEW OF SUMMER SEASON.
We started the season with everything in good order except for the green which was not looking good due to another Leatherjacket infection, although we were still allowed to play.
Our membership is still strong and we are still attracting new members.
Fees for the season remained at £20.
The weather was very mixed and the condition of the green was still causing concern.
In June we held our first ever Fun Day and it rained. A target course was laid out as a new challenge, some members took on the challenge in the poor conditions and enjoyed themselves. Afterwards there was a buffet in the clubhouse which was donated by club members.
We had an influx of new members (some of the Dunraven Hotel regulars).
We had the schools' sessions again this year. The green is now playing well.
With the membership increasing gradually throughout the year, the evening sessions are becoming busier.
We held the school’ match at the end of July which was a great success.
We didn’t close the club for a 2 week break this year but played morning sessions only.
Towards the end of the season, the mixed weather remained with us but we were lucky enough to play most sessions.
The last session of the season, we played a challenge cup match with the Dunraven regulars followed with a buffet and a sing-song.
This year has been another successful year for our club.
We started the year with the second half of the winter season which once again was an outstanding success. Every session was full.
Membership for the next winter season will still be restricted to capacity.
The summer season was a success despite the poor weather.
Membership increased to an all-time record.
Membership fees will remain unchanged for 2025.
We would like to extend our thanks to every member for all their help in running the club.
Finally, thank you all for making it another enjoyable year.
